It&#8217;s by no means everything I&#8217;ve ready, but some of the big series.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nDragon Prince<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0886774500<\/a><br \/>\nThe Star Scroll<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0886773490<br \/>\nSun-Runner&#8217;s Fire<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0886774039<\/p>\n<p>Other things that may be good:<\/p>\n<p>All the Ender books, including the newest:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0312857586<\/p>\n<p>Robert Jordan&#8217;s Wheel of Time (as we were talking about).<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/browse\/-\/408712<\/p>\n<p>Everything in the Belgariad and Malloreon:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/listmania\/list-browse\/-\/28896JPBM3K8S<\/p>\n<p>Terry Goodkind&#8217;s Sword of Truth, which are pretty heavy, but good:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/browse\/-\/408716<\/p>\n<p>The main Dragonlance books:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/guides\/guide-display\/-\/3GKV809NNU2I8<\/p>\n<p>The various Dark Elf books by R.A. Salvatore are good, but violent:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/guides\/guide-display\/-\/1HDA8ZQ5CY8NN<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Honorverse&#8221; books by David Weber are really good, but a bit<br \/>\nheavy on the made-up-science:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/listmania\/list-browse\/-\/11FKI8TAGWYHS<\/p>\n<p>Everything on this list is really good. It includes Asimov&#8217;s<br \/>\nFoundation books, and Arthur C Clarke&#8217;s Rama books:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/guides\/guide-display\/-\/37ZKU1XR1898B<\/p>\n<p>The Order War, by L. E. Modesitt Jr are good, but very repetitive<br \/>\nafter the first 5 or 6. The back-story does build with each book, but<br \/>\nits the same plot again and again. If you like the plot, that&#8217;s fine,<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s 13 of them to read. If not, you&#8217;ll never read more than one. <br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/listmania\/list-browse\/-\/22XHK89AUQ7R7\/<\/p>\n<p>Anne Mccaffry&#8217;s Dragonriders of Pern books are good reasonably light<br \/>\nfantasy: <br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/listmania\/list-browse\/-\/191IODV23QVIX<\/p>\n<p>Someone may like George Martin&#8217;s &#8220;A song of ice and fire&#8221; although I<br \/>\ncouldn&#8217;t get into them at all:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/browse\/-\/15583<\/p>\n<p>Philip Pullman&#8217;s His Dark Materials trilogy. I could never get into<br \/>\nthese either, but they&#8217;re supposed to be good:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0440238609<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s more than a start. It&#8217;s what, 100 books? \ud83d\ude42 If you buy<br \/>\nanything, I&#8217;d definitely try to get everything in a series at the<br \/>\nsame time. At least within each set. For instance, the Belgariad is 5<br \/>\nbooks, and the Malloreon is another 5 books. The Dragonlance books<br \/>\nare a half dozen trilogies (and a couple pairs), etc.  There&#8217;s<br \/>\nnothing I hate more than reading a book or two in a series and not<br \/>\nbeing able to get the rest. Or worse, reading something in the middle<br \/>\nof a series.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, another place you may point people who have a computer at home:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.baen.com\/library<br \/>\nThis is a free library of books ( some of which I listed above ) that<br \/>\ncan be read online or downloaded to read later. The Belisarius series<br \/>\nhas several books included there, by David Drake and Eric Flint.<br \/>\nThey&#8217;re pretty good, easy reads, but quite violent. It&#8217;s a (very)<br \/>\nalternative history of Roman times.
